Meet Omari

      Dr. Omari Itomi is an ESL Consultant  and Independent Contractor.  She has had the pleasure of enjoying a fulfilling 22+ year career in the field of Education, with over 10 years specializing in work with English Learners (ELs). Dr. Itomi's journey has included owning a daycare center, teaching k-12 in public and private sector, teaching ESL in Higher Ed/ Continuing Education, coordinating Afterschool and community outreach programs as well as Homeschooling. Dr. Itomi earned a B.S in Psychology,  an M.A in Curriculum Instruction and a Ph.D in Psychology. 

     

     At heart, Dr. Itomi is a Humanitarian and has learned a number of additional skills, (ie. grant writing/compliance, editing, Business Planning/Start-up etc) through her work serving community organizations. She is a life-long learner and believes it is her duty to share the knowledge she gains with others whenever possible. 

     

     Currently,  Dr. Itomi serves as an online instructor for the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) in Stone Mountain, GA. This district serves over 11,000 English Learners (ELs) and over 160 languages and countries of origin. She writes ESL curriculum for various grade levels, trains teachers in strategies and best practices for ELs through live workshops and the online ESOL endorsement program, tutors native and international students and develops curriculum/programs locally for Homeschoolers.

     

     While her eclectic background allows her to offer many services that support others, her main mission is to show other teachers how to honor the beauty, intellect and diversity of every English Learner as they become proficient in English!
